Information regarding recent developments at Bader College and Herstmonceux Castle (13/03/2024)

Due to the ongoing repairs at Herstmonceux Castle and groundworks in progress, we would like to remind dog walkers, ramblers, and visitors to keep to the public bridleways and footpaths that traverse the estate and not to wander onto the estate.
Due to the hazard of construction workers and their vehicles on site we have asked our security team to enforce this for the safety of everyone.

We are closed to the public until May 1st 2024 but will update the public on times of opening nearer to 1st May. The gardens and grounds are saturated with all the rain we have experienced this winter, and we hope that the grounds will have dried out by opening day.

Thank you to all our visitors and followers throughout 2021

Now that our 2021 season has come to an end and we are no longer open on a daily basis, we wanted to take this opportunity to say how wonderful it has been to see and hear how much you have enjoyed visiting the Herstmonceux Castle Estate. We do not have a ‘typical’ visitor but from all the feedback received, we know how special this beautiful, tranquil, and rather magical place is for many of you and that it appeals equally to both young and old. For this reason and in response to lots of requests to open over winter, we have decided to do so for one weekend each month between now and the start of our 2022 season in February. Please see website for full details of times and dates.

If you are about to start your Christmas shopping and are looking for a gift idea that will keep giving throughout next year, our 2022 season tickets are now available and can be purchased via the website. You could also treat yourself to one!

Last but certainly not least, please consider signing up for The Castle Night Trek if you haven’t done so already. It’s a fantastic event that aims to raise money and awareness for Chestnut Tree House and the amazing work that this children’s hospice does.

We hope you have a wonderful festive season and look forward to welcoming you back next year.

Sign up to receive our seasonal newsletter giving you advance notice of events and what to expect in the gardens in the coming months.
